Contest Mechanics
I. Mechanics
1. The DIVA Songwriting Contest is songwriting contest open to all amateur and professional songwriters in the Philippines.
2. Each songwriter or a collaboration of songwriters (lyricist/s and composer/s) may submit a maximum of 2 entries.
3. Song entries:
a. must either be in Filipino or in English
b. must be a love song
c. must have a musical type appropriate to a love song
d. must not exceed 4 minutes in length including intro and extro
e. must be recorded and interpreted well, preferably pre-arranged* The contest organizers reserve the right to rearrange the qualifying song entries and to choose and assign interpreters for the finals and for the album recording of winning songs and finalists. Participants who will not agree to this shall be automatically disqualified.
4. Each entry must include the following:
a. fully accomplished entry form with original signature(s) and 2×2 ID photo of songwriter/s
b. CD containing 1 song only indicating the title of the song on the case and on the CD itself but without the name of the songwriter/s
c. Five (5) typewritten copies of the lyrics with the title of the song but without the name of the songwriter/s5. Submission of entries:
a. All of the above requirements must be placed in a brown envelope and mailed or hand carried to:

b. Participants sending two entries must send them in two (2) separate envelopes.

(applied songwriting style, technique, skill)
Lyrics - 30%
(effectiveness, message, appropriateness to theme)
Melody - 30%
(recall, strength, etc.)
Overall Appeal - 10%

January 24, 2010 - Launch of Contest
February 14, 2010 - Deadline for submission of entries
February 21, 2010 - Song finalists will be performed on SOP, text-voting
February 28, 2010 - Announcement/Awarding of Winner on SOP
IV. Prizes
1. Three (3) finalists will be chosen per category:
a. Professional (3 finalists)
b. Amateur (3 finalists)
2. The Top winner per category shall be awarded the P200,000 and a trophy. The rest of the finalists will receive a cash prize of P 20,000 each.
3. The winning songs will be included as part of the soundtrack of GMA’s primetime program “DIVA”.V. Others
1. All finalists shall waive their rights to their songs in perpetuity in favor of GMA Network DIVA Songwriting Contest for the album production, for general publication (in magazines, etc.), for promotional use (radio airplay, performance on TV, internet, etc.) and for general purposes (concerts and events, etc.) locally and/or internationally with the proper and due acknowledgment and recognition of the songwriter/s.
2. Only participants who have reached the top 3 finalists per category shall waive their rights to their qualifying and winning songs.
3. Costs of transportation, accommodation, attendance to events and other expenses related to the contest shall be shouldered by the participant.
4. The decision of the board of judges is final.
5. All employees and talents of GMA Network, Inc. and their relatives up to the 2nd degree of affinity and consanguinity are disqualified from joining this competition.

Arts | CommentsLRT Art competition 2009 deadline of submission shall be on Saturday, May 30, 2009.
From Edsa corner Aurora blvd, you will see the lrt line 2 train (Santolan -Recto Station). It is the train crossing the mrt train along Edsa (SM North to Taft). You could also ask around for Gateway Mall. Its the newest mall along Aurora blvd in Cubao. It is beside the old Isetan Tower in Aurora Blvd.  The LRT 2 Cubao Station is connected to the Gateway Mall. Gateway mall is also connected to the Araneta Colesium. You wont miss it. Just go to the Gateway Mall and they will direct you to to the LRT 2 Cubao Gateway station.

The focus of the Kodak Filmschool Competition is on the film’s cinematography and the innovative use of available resources to create the images that complement the story.
The Kodak Filmschool Competition will be conducted in various participating countries and film schools. The winning film from each National Competition will then be judged at a regional level to select the overall competition winner. Eligible participants are invited to submit original films on the following conditions:
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1.       Each entry must be submitted by the cinematographer. Only one film and only one cinematographer per entry is permitted.
2.       A short synopsis and production crew list must be attached to each entry form.
3.       Entries must be originated on Super 8, 16mm or 35mm KODAK motion picture film.
4.       The cinematographer and crew members must be either
a) currently enrolled in a full time film or related production training program, or
b) graduated from a full time film or related production training program within the last 12 months of the competition closing date.
5.       Animation is accepted if originated on film.
6.       All judge’s decisions are final.
7.       A copy of the winning National Competition film must be made available by August 30,2009 for Regional Competition judging.
8.       Kodak will be responsible for freighting the winning National Competition films to and from the Regional Competition judging venue.
9.       The winner of the Regional Competition will receive a trip to Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival during January 2010. The prize includes a single round trip economy ticket to Clermont-Ferrand and accommodation.
10.       Optional for the Regional winner, should they wish to participate in the Kodak Short Film Showcase at Clermont-Ferrand they need to supply a 35mm print of their film.
KEY DATES
August 07, 2009 deadline for the National Competition. National Competition winners will be determined by August 30, 2009. The Regional Competition results will be announced by November 1, 2009.

LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT AUTHORITY

“LRT Buhay ng Pinoy”
BACKGROUND
LRTArt 2009 is a flagship project of the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), recognized as the premier rail transit authority in Metro Manila, and the Philippine Association of Printmakers, Inc. (PAP), the prime movers of multiple original artworks in the country. This project is a national painting competition, which aims to promote art while raising consciousness of train riding as a way of life in the metropolis among Filipino commuters.
ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to all Filipino citizens age18 years old and above as of May 30, 2009.
Entrants must present a valid ID and/or document showing birth date and citizenship when
submitting their entry (passport, school ID, birth certificate, driver’s license, voter’s ID, senior citizen ID), and must submit together with the entry form a photocopy of the same. Each entrant may submit only one entry. Employees of the LRTA as well as Officers and Board Members of the Philippine Association of Printmakers are not eligible to participate in the competition.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The Artwork: Entries must have been done in the year 2009, must be the entrant’s original and exclusive work, and must not have been exhibited, revised, nor entered in any other competition.
Medium: Oil or acrylic on canvas only. Size: 3 feet x 4 feet excluding frame, horizontal or vertical in orientation, and not thicker than 2inches in width. Entries must be wall bound. Appropriate support, and/or equivalent devices should be provided to ensure proper hanging of the art work.
Only box type frame or museum wrap (gallery wrap) will be accepted. Entries must be signed but must be covered with masking tape prior to submission (to conceal artist’s identity).
Wet paintings will not be accepted
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Upon submission, the entrant must also submit together with the entry,
the following in order to qualify:
- Completely furnished and signed official entry form
- Signed and notarized affidavit (attached with entry form)
- Photocopy of required ID (see B. under Eligibility)
- One 2×2 ID photo of the artist
- One 4R color photograph of his/her work bearing the following information at the back: Artist’s name, title of work, medium, and selling price.
- There is NO entry fee for the competition
- The entrant must be responsible for the transport of his/her work to and from the venue of submission/retrieva l.
SUBMISSION DATE AND VENUE
Submission of all entries will be on May 30, 2009, Saturday, between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm only at the LRT Cubao Station West Side. For provincial entries, the participant must advise Mail Forwarders that entry will only be accepted on the said date, time and venue. Participants from the provinces are encouraged to organize the shipping of their works together to make cost of transport cheaper.
AWARDS
- One GRAND PRIZE winner to receive PhP 200,000.00 exclusive of tax
- Five JURORS’ CHOICE to receive PhP 100,000.00 each exclusive of tax
- Six FINALISTS to receive PhP 50,000.00 each exclusive of tax
All winning entries will automatically become the property of the LRTA. LRTA reserves all rights to its reproduction.
All entrants shall be given a certificate of participation.
OTHER PROVISIONS
The LRTA reserves the right to use the name and photo of the artist and his/her work for free in any broadcast or print media. The artist also grants the LRTA and the PAP the right to exhibit the entries as deemed fit and shall have the right to decide which of the entries will be selected for inclusion in the exhibition and the catalogue. Winning entries and selected none winning entries will be exhibited at the Cubao Station East Side from July 11 to August 10, 2009. Selected none winning entries will be offered for sale to the general public subject to 20% commission due the Philippine Association of Printmakers, Inc., the organizer, to support their programs and projects. All possible care will be taken for the handling and security of the entries submitted. However, the LRTA and the PAP assume no responsibility for any loss of or damage to the entry or entries before, during and after the competition/ exhibition due to force majeure.
RETRIEVAL OF ENTRIES
All entrants whose entries are selected for the exhibition will be notified via email, text or phone call by June 5, 2009. If entrant does not receive any notification, he must retrieve his/her work within the period from June 6 to 13, 2009 between 9:00am to 5:00pm only. Unclaimed works may be forfeited. The rest of the none-winning entries that are included in the exhibition may be retrieved at the submission site from August 10 to August 21, 2009 from 9am to 5pm only. Only entrants or their representatives with official retrieval form will be released the entry.
AWARDING & EXHIBITION OPENING
Awarding of winners and exhibition opening will be held on July 11, 2009, Saturday, at 4:00 in the afternoon at the LRT Cubao Station East Side, to coincide with the LRTA anniversary.
