A number of whistleblowers would like us to think that they are heroes.

They would like us to think that they have suffered sleepless nights, oppression and political harassment for exposing a crime. They would like us to think that it is such a great personal sacrifice for them to be whistleblowers because their lives and their family are now in grave danger. They actually even want us to believe that they are the good guys.

Some people have actually fallen for this great lie, which is nothing more than “adding insult to injury”. Now, some people are trying to sell us the idea that because of what these whistleblowers have done, we should vote for them to be elected into Congress or in the Senate.

In short, we are now being asked to let the whistleblowers become the cops.

We are being told to “honor” people who were involved in illegal or criminal acts, we are being told to forget that they may, or have directly participated in deals or agreements that were disadvantageous to the government or to the people of the Philippines.

(I am) Captured (by this Song)

July 14th, 2009

Lately, I have been listening to OPM again. I have Gabo, my elder son, to thank for this. You see, he has been downloading OPM songs lately, and sharing it with me.

One of the recent OPM songs I love is Christian Bautista and Sitti’s Captured. Alaveet!!!

Here are the lyrics.

I was captured the moment we met
Carried away with every word you said
It’s a mystery how you got to me
I fell in the spell of your charms
With your siren’s smile you caught me off guard

Just one glance took away my breath
Then you drew me in with your tenderness
You captivate my soul, I’m enraptured
You knocked me out and you locked me up
Stole my heart like a thief at love
Keep me here in your happy ever after
I’m captured

By the way just in case you care
I’m here to stay, I’m not going anywhere
I took a dive in your deep dark eyes
And I’m never coming up for air
I lost myself in this bond that we share

One sweet kiss took away my breath
Then you drew me in with your tenderness
You captivate my soul, I’m enraptured
You knocked me out and you locked me up
Stole my heart like a thief at love
Hold me tight in your happy ever after

Now you’ve got the best of me
No one else could hold the key
I’m captured

Just one touch took away my breath
When you drew me in I could not resist
You captivate my soul, I’m enraptured
You knocked me out and you locked me up
Stole my heart like a thief at love
Keep me here in your happy ever after
I’m captured

Enjoy listening and singing along! ;)

Michael Jackson Passes on at 50

June 26th, 2009

Michael Jackson, the onetime child star turned King of Pop, died in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon after he stopped breathing in his home and was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center. He was 50 years old. Continue reading…

I remember him well with his pads, shiny leather jackets, tight leather pants, and pointed black or white leather shoes, and of course his moves - the moonwalk dance. All these might have masked the loneliness of his life behind the blinking lights, but they have helped create the genius that is Michael Jackson.

I consider his a music genius and not just a pop legend because of the following reasons:

  • he creates music with a global message
  • he has inspired many artists
  • he composes, writes, sings, and dances
  • he has passion, he has talent, he has ingenuity
  • he has touched people all over the world

I have always liked his music—from the lyrics to the melody.

And I liked him better when he was still Afro-American.

One of my faves:

My other Michael Jackson favorite song is Heal the World.
