May 27th, 2013

Philip Abadicio Adds More Fun to Sunday Night TV

If you are like me who have enough of what’s airing on television these days, fret no more. There’s a new TV show that will surely add fun to your Sunday night viewing.

TV5’s news channel, Aksyon TV, adds color to your viewing experience with its all-new  lifestyle magazine and talk show called “It’s More fun with Philip.” The show is hosted by media meister Philip K. Abadicio.  Airing every Sunday from 10 to 10:30 pm, the show tackles the latest lifestyle news—be it dining, travel, fashion, well being, fitness, beauty, arts and anything and everything that makes you feel good about life.

The “more fun” element is injected into every segment with exciting challenges, treatments, and interviews. This 30-minute show is poised to be funny, exhaustive, and honest as Philip engages the audience in an informative and entertaining way with his freshest gimmicks weekly. “I wanted our lifestyle tv show to be appreciated and accessible to people from all walks of life, a show that informs but entertains at the same time,” shares Philip.

You’ll never know what’s coming with It’s More Fun with Philip because each episode features a mix of different segments. Bentang Bago showcases the hippest trends, newest dining options, chill spots, fitness forays, and other fab finds in the metro that will keep you on-the-know of what’s hot and not. Bentang Bago also gets more interactive as Philip gives the viewers a chance to sample the featured items by simply tweeting or sharing their comments on social media.

Napasubo Ka! is a segment where “guinea pigs” (people from different walks of life) personally tries the featured products or services while Ang Hamon poses a daring challenge to Philip—may it be doing odd jobs or finishing a specific task. Galaw-galaw gets Philip or his guest hosts moving as they take a shot on physically challenging sports or activities. And towards the end of every episode, Philip’s guest co-host is subjected into a spill-all interview, which shall be done under the blanket.

This interview segment is called Kwentuhang Kumot and it banks on the motto: Iba ang kwentuhan sa loob ng kumot. Even the show’s bumper segments give its own snappy dose of fun. I Saw the Sign features the funny and interesting things that we see around us—may it be signage, billboards, or even cloud formations. Whatchathink? gets the crew on the streets to ask passersby on their thoughts about trivial questions. Ano Kaya Kung… features short and snappy challenges that we usually think about but never tried.  And to get to know the latest on the net, Weblog shall discuss the news bits featured in www.StyleRPA.com. The headlines shall be reported by web enthusiast, Fred da Web.

The TV show is unique because it’s a lifestyle news talk show but with a comic/ reality twist. It is created for the audience to try what are being featured. Philip adds, “we give away food that we recommend from the restaurants we feature, spa and salon treatments,
frocks and froufrou from designers, gift cheques for stays at recommended hotels and resorts, consumer products and services, and a whole lot more via StyleRPA.com, twitter and facebook.”

LINE unveils new TVC starring Super Junior’s Siwon

May 2nd, 2013

 From the LINE TVC

Last night, I saw for the very first time the TVC of LINE on local television. I thought to myself, there might be thousands of Filipino K-Pop fans who were screaming upon seeing that TVC.

Well, delight yourselves K-Pop fans as the TVC will be running for a long while. LINE, the world’s hottest mobile messenger, signs up Siwon, the lead singer of the widely popular Korean boy band Super Junior as their newest brand ambassador.

Filipino K-Pop fans have already seen and heard Siwon live when the Super Junior band came to country to perform last April 2010 and February 2011.

Through the TVC, Siwon vividly shows how LINE can be excellent communication medium that connects beloved friends and family wherever they are in the world.

Siwon and acting Patricia play the role of a couple separated by physical distance. Because of LINE, they have are able to communicate and become closer despite the distance. LINE’s social digital platforms allow Siwon and Patricia to exchange virtual stickers that help them express their feelings and thoughts toward each other.

“Oftentimes, I am away from home, so I miss my families and friends a lot. But sometimes I am a bit too shy to express my feelings. Since I started using LINE, it became much easier for me to exchange my feelings with my families and friends, even when I am far away in other countries. LINE stickers are very expressive and perky, so if you use stickers, you can express your feelings more effectively than using just words,” Siwon remarked.

Siwon further added, “I think LINE is an excellent communication tool that keeps the relationship between you and your friends and family even tighter, because it is possible to communicate subtle emotions through LINE. Now, I can’t imagine life without LINE.”

Lee Jin Woo, General Manager of LINE Business Office at LINE PLUS explained, “We at LINE have always been open to innovative and creative ways to put our mobile messaging platform out there and to reach as many people as we can. Starting with this TV commercial, we plan to cooperate with various Philippine local businesses and brands for more localized offerings in order to provide a more exciting and enriching experience for Philippine users.”

Through the continuous release of diverse features, LINE has become widely popular worldwide, reaching 140 million users globally. LINE has also shown a strong presence in western countries as it has hit 10 million users in Spain. 3 Tips for Building a Website or Blog

October 11th, 2012

 Wow, it’s unbelievable!

In the past six years, I have been in the website/blogging business. I’ve helped built 2 websites and 6 blogs! Whew!

The two websites:

Going To Meet - The most comprehensive directory of conferences worldwide
Local Philippines - The most comprehensive directory of Philippine hotels and resorts

How I Built Websites

  1. Plan the content first. Map out the data, in other words. In so doing, you need to come up with a goal for your website. The goal will address the audience, the reach or niche,  and will determine the  timeline of your research. Having a good and comprehensive content is an important step to success. Based on experience, you don’t need an SEO if you have great content.
  2. Have a good structure, design, and functionality. In development, make sure that there is ease of navigation, the site loads fast, and the background, color, font (text) are easy on the eyes. An important consideration also is that the site can be viewed in different browsers (IE, Firefox, and Chrome, among others).
  3. Establish interactivity. For websites, it’s important that you engage your readers and when they land on your site, they are called to action. The Net is also full of resources and tips for making a website. You may want to check out http://www.hereshowtomakeawebsite.com/.
  4. Choose the best content management system for you: WordPress, Joomla or Drupal, among others.

My blogs:

Six Sigma
Customer Relations
Mama Is Working
Brands for Grabs
I Am on the Streets
Miss Usage

How I Built Blogs

  1. Decide on a niche and focus on that. I am used to beginning work with an outline, and having specific topic or a niche makes it outlining easier. It’s also easier to be consistent and in the process, the blog develops a theme. A good result of this is that you become an authority on the topic that you’ve chosen. If you have authority, people seek out your blog for information.
  2. Update regularly. It’s important that you have fresh content regularly. I am guilty of not updating regularly lately, but when I started my blogs, I was posting every day, and then three times a week. Lately Google Panda puts importance on great original content and thus, updating can be once a month only as long as you meet the first criteria.
  3. Original content. People or readers go to your blog if you have original content. You can find a lot of resources on the Net on how to come up with original content. Foremost is that out of the gazillion information and data on the net, make your own spin on these info. This will make your content uniquely yours.

Easy does it. If I can do it, you can do it, too. Best of luck guys! :)

Business Best Practice: Be fussy about who does your business computer services

May 26th, 2011

There are computer services and computer services. Some provide excellent, fast service and some provide “service with a sneer”, sticking clients on a line to wait for results. The fact is that no business can afford downtime, and the best computer services provide fast, efficient service when you need it.

The really good news for businesses is that service standards for IT are improving, daily. The days of waiting for service when someone feels like providing it are long gone, too. Business computer services these days are fully professional and not only make appointments, they keep them. This is an extremely competitive industry, and quality is the key to success for the computer service firms.

What to look for in a business computer service

There are some basic standards you can apply to make your hunt for good computer support a lot easier:

  • Business-friendly costs – Rates are competitive, standardized and quoted upfront. There’s no guesswork involved, and no “surprises” in the billing.
  • Full range of repairs servicesThis is critical. You need a computer repair service that can provide comprehensive support and deal with all the issues.
  • Network and server services – These services can be invaluable in shutting down a range of issues which can cause crashes and data problems.
  • Remote diagnostic services – The service people can find problems offsite, and in many cases even fix them remotely. This is an extremely efficient operational approach, saving hours of time.
  • Staff training – If you know how much staff IT training costs, you will appreciate the value of a relationship between your service people and your staff, and the good communications and support relationship this generates.
  • Mobile network support and service – Everybody has an “office in your pocket”, and these networks are crucial to business efficiency in the various mobile business modes.

Checking out computer service firms

Your basic criteria will create a good short list of possible computer support options. The next stage is direct contact. It’s a good idea to talk to your possible service providers and get an idea of their service quality. Most importantly, it’s a way of checking out their efficiency in dealing with customer inquiries.

You can use a checklist for your contact:

  1. Was the reception service quick and efficient?
  2. Is the firm’s “new business” contact a good communicator?
  3. Does the service understand your needs and answer your questions clearly?
  4. Does the service suggest options and otherwise suggest it can do more?
  5. Was the contact able to provide good background information to advertised services?

If you answered “No” to any of these questions, move on to the next contact. Don’t waste your time with people that can’t even manage to get a competent person on the phone to get new business.

If you answered “Yes” to all the questions, you’ve probably found your computer support.

The Eco-Plaza, Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati

October 9th, 2009

This is a new building along Pasong Tamo (now Chino Roces Avenue) Extension in Makati City.

I first noticed this building when it was being built. I knew then it was something different because I noticed it was built like layers of terraces.

I cannot remember exactly when it opened, but the next time  I knew the building was finished. From the name alone, Ecoplaza, I’m sure it’s an environment-friendly building. Being one is something we really have to be from now on.

EcoPlaza address: 2305 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.
